Saltney Classic June 2008. This was our first time at this event and it proved to be a really friendly and well organised competition. It was a team event with the top 5 scores from day 1 and the top 5 scores from day 2 added together to give the overall team totals. On day one, all our NDP team performed clean routines to put them in first place. A special mention needs to go to Rebecca and Freya who won the trophy for the highest score of the day with their stunning routine. On day two the FIG gymnasts were in action. This was always going to be a challenging day as they were up against some of GB's most talented 11-16 and Junior gymnasts. However, all partnerships performed excellently to gain scores which were high enough to maintain our lead; giving us the overall Team Trophy, congratulations to everyone.
Regional Championships November 2008: Becky and Megan (11-16 women's pair) and Steph, Laura and Hannah (junior women's group) each competed for the first time in their new level of competition. Despite the nerves, Becky and Megan performed 2 clean routines and gained some of the highest scores of the day. Steph, Laura and Hannah successfully performed their new high level skills, only faltering on their final move in the dynamic routine. Both partnerships took the Gold medal. Well done girls!
British Tournament November 2008.With their first performance at a national competition Becky and Megan finished in 4th place even with the worst possible build up to a competition due to illness! They performed well, despite obvious nerves but have still got a lot more to offer. Cath, Rosie and Emily performed for the first time together as a trio; only one routine, but they were placed 3rd which promises good things for the future. Well Done to both partnerships as it has not been the easiest build up to competition for either group!
